The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report assesses the landscape of 144 economies, providing insight into the drivers of their productivity and prosperity. Working with the Forum, we defined a data management workflow and built a publishing system for the Forum’s global indexes, indicators, and economy profiles. We also designed and built reusable and responsive data visualizations (using d3.chart) and user interfaces for exploring the Report.

Challenge
The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report assesses the landscape of 144 economies to provide insight into the drivers of their productivity and prosperity. The WEF approached us to streamline their data processes and publishing systems to increase the quality and quantity of visualizations available to researchers, policy makers, and leaders as they work to build sustainable growth and raise standards of living globally.
Solution
What Bocoup helped the Forum do:
- Define a data management workflow for the WEF team
- Build a publishing system for the Forum’s Global Indexes, Indicators, and Economy Profiles
- Design and build reusable and responsive data visualizations (using d3.chart) and user interfaces for exploring the Report
Impact
The WEF's Global Competitiveness Report remains the most comprehensive assessment of national competitiveness worldwide and provides a platform for dialogue between government, business, and civil society about the actions required to improve economic prosperity. By partnering with Bocoup, the Forum was able to inform and engage their audience around their data using interactive visualizations built for the modern web.
