Valerie is an Open Web Engineer at Bocoup, where she helps Bocoup's customers improve their projects using web technologies and open source methodologies. Valerie is a co-editor of ECMA-402, the internationalization extension specification for JavaScript, and contributor to ECMA-262, and test262.

She is known for her work and contributions in the Debian community, particularly within the Reproducible Builds project which she was funded to direct through Gnome Outreachy. Previously Valerie worked an engineer for a medical technology company after graduating with a BS in Computer Science and Physics from Boston University.

Additionally, Valerie serves on the Board of Directors of Software in the Public Interest, a non-profit organization founded to help organizations develop and distribute open hardware and software.
